Silicone is a favourite material for intimate toys because quality silicone is smooth, body-safe and non-porous. But knowing how to clean silicone toys properly is what keeps that soft finish hygienic, comfortable and ready when you are. The right routine is simple - and it is gentler than many people assume.
Cleaning should happen before first use, after every use, and any time a toy has been stored for a while. Whether it is a vibrator, dildo, anal toy, kegel exerciser or another silicone essential, a few minutes of care protects both the material and your peace of mind.
Start by checking what your toy is made of
Not every toy described as “silicone” needs the same cleaning method. If approved, place the toy in simmering water for the recommended time, commonly a few minutes, ensuring it does not sit directly against the base of the saucepan. Let it cool fully and dry it before use or storage. Boiling is not needed after every session.
